After seeing a lack of genuinely independent veterinary care at affordable prices across the wider Potters Bar area, we set out with a clear mission — high-quality care, delivered by experienced veterinary professionals, with an approach that stays personal, transparent and accessible.
Our team brings together more than 70 years of combined experience across the veterinary profession. Our vets and nurses pair clinical knowledge and practical experience with genuine care for the animals — and the families — they look after.
Oak Vets was founded by Dr Sanjay Jand, who previously owned and ran Happy Pets Veterinary Surgery, with practices in Southgate and Enfield. Years of running independent practices shaped the philosophy behind Oak Vets: great veterinary care is built around the pet, the owner and the local community.
Today we remain focused on that same principle — experienced people, personal care and excellent veterinary care, without losing the independent feel that makes a local practice special.

By bus: route 84 (St Albans – Potters Bar) stops at the High Street bus garage, moments from our door; routes 242 and PB1 stop there too — live bus times.
By train: Potters Bar station is about a 10-minute walk.

Our out-of-hours emergency care is supported by the Royal Veterinary College's Queen Mother Hospital for Animals — one of the most advanced small-animal hospitals in the world, just minutes from Potters Bar. It provides emergency care whenever Oak Vets is closed.

1. Tell us straight away. Speak to any member of the team, call 01707 912086 or email oakvets9@gmail.com. Most concerns are resolved on the spot.
2. Still not right? Put your complaint in writing to Dr Sanjay Jand at the practice or by email, marked "Complaint". We'll acknowledge it promptly, look into it thoroughly and reply in writing once we have.
3. Independent help. If you remain unhappy, the Veterinary Client Mediation Service offers free, independent mediation between clients and practices. Concerns about professional conduct can be raised with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
